What we do
We work with local partners and authorities to develop solutions that are sustainable and that empower people to do something about the current environmental and humanitarian crises. We are not seeking to impose non-contextual solutions, nor do we believe in aid handouts; our projects are developed in collaboration with local partner organisations that have strong indigenous or community ties, who have identified a need for action but lack the resources - financial, human or requisite expertise - to work effectively without external support.
Down2Earth provides this support through our overseas volunteer programmes. In this way we are empowering people at every level to take action towards building sustainable living projects for disadvantaged communities, preserving indigenous cultures and conserving species and habitats.
In addition to researching and developing specific projects we are an umbrella organisation that seeks to bring charities, non-profit organisations, research institutions and concerned individuals together to work towards preserving the environment and eradicating poverty. We believe that sustainable action requires a holistic approach of cooperation rather than of competition; therefore we seek to work in partnership with other organisations whose goals reflect our own. |
