Cost breakdown

Down2Earth works with local partner organisations that have limited resources, and our volunteer projects are designed to increase their capacities and to benefit local people.

cost breakdown

  • • 70% of your money is spent in the host country:
- 40% of this goes directly towards the project, e.g. on teaching materials, contributing to running costs of organisations that you will work with, paying local wages, medical care for children, building materials and other material resources that are needed to enable various activities.
- 30% of this goes towards your in-country expenses such as travel, food and accommodation. We ensure that our volunteers are of benefit to the local economy by using local transport where possible and buy food from locally owned businesses.
  • • 20% goes towards volunteer support costs such as travel insurance, pre-departure preparation, materials, volunteer recruitment and staff expenses.
• The remaining 10% goes towards researching and building future projects.
