August Bank Holiday 2007- - Shambala Festival
Shambala is, in their own words, a wild, creative, low profile, green and family friendly event. That's our kinda festival!
Festival is akin to community and Shambala, although first and foremost a big party, evokes a strong community spirit and friendly atmosphere in which creativity is given free rein to run rampant. In the afternoon sunshine, children sew their own costumes from material trimmings to a backdrop of pirate opera from onboard a converted ship. After hours, the fields morph into 40s-style open air ballrooms, barn dances and 80's dominated geodome raves. Teepees become thriving masses of creativity and iniquity, keeping the homefires burning until dawn and the jamming going until well after noon. Elsewhere, people indulge in steaming teapot saunas to finish off a hard night's revelling.
Thanks to everbody who came over to speak to us. We hope to turn the possibilities and ideas that we discussed into realities over the next few months.
See you next year!
